Biofuels Impact on Producers (View Video)
With the increase in demand for corn-based ethanol last year, corn prices more than doubled, hitting an all time high of over $8 a bushel. On the surface that may seem like good news for agriculture, however, about 60% of livestock producers' expenses come from what they feed their animals which is often corn-based. An issue many blame on the push to use more ethanol.

Rural communities across the country, including some in Oklahoma, have tried to open an ethanol plant of their own and while several went on-line last year, a similar number have halted construction. While the short-term ethanol bubble may have burst, long-term opportunities still exist.
